it's been a whirlwind so I didn't get to mention this last week when we had our opening. But the church that I work for has a poster project art show up right now in downtown PDX. I think over 300 people came, although my count could have been off do to my pure exhaustion :)
The idea behind it being that the posters would each represent the child sex trafficking industry that is so prevalent in our nation and beyond. These posters would then speak to people, these people would buy prints of the posters (which all proceeds go towards an advocacy group against the trafficking) and with each purchase the hope is that cultural consciousness would change, people would acknowledge the issue.
anyways, i do a bad job explaining it. but you can check out more here, and also buy a print if you'd like: http://www.exileposterproject.com/
if you're in PDX, there is a first thursday viewing at our gallery space.
I'm not sure how I came across your blog a couple of months ago but I've been enjoying your updates. Anyway I was at First Thursday last night and recognized the Exile Poster Project from your post. Just wanted to say, "Hi!" Sarah
