hola amigos

we're here (and i'm already holding cute babies!)
after a 3 days driving journey, we've made it to vicente guerrero, Mexico! We've been here since Sunday and just like any experience in another culture it has been a whirlwind. We have primarily been working with two missions: a daycare center focused on giving care to the migrant workers that work all day in the field, and also another mission with a woman named Elia who has focused her life on single women and children.
i can give a more detailed account later, but for now, just know that we are safe and in very good hands :)

love to from mexico...

Days 'til the trip: 1

I can't believe that it's really time, time for our travels to distant places :)
we are going to have an opportunity to hang out with some of these cute little faces:
We leave bright and early tomorrow morning... i'm yawning already.
First stop San Fran, then the magical world of Disney, and then welcome home ministries is Zapata, Mexico! We don't really know what we are going to be doing or what we're getting into exactly, so prayers said for us would certainly be appreciated!
Alright, one more day to get through before all of this. huzzah!

a winter's night

we just walked in the door from a date to the movies, and as i walked up the stairs feeling inspired as i do after most movies, i glanced up at the night sky and immediately got my camera.
wow.
i guess that's all there is to say with words.
nice work, God.

custom orders

whew. where has the time been going?
i am serious. where?
i feel like literally it was just october, then november decided to move right in and make itself cozy, and now mr. december is here, and almost gone, really.
wow.
i realize that with the time moving at warp speed, i haven't been able to show you some of the fun custom projects i have worked on:

this is for a fun couple in portland, who are taking the leap and getting hitched.
their theme is donuts and apples, splendid!

this one i made for a friend from michigan whose brother and sister in law are adopting!

and of course i've been doing lots of these :)

if you EVER need any custom invitations, prints, artwork, cards, email me!

pop up fun

I know its probably not in my best interest to show these amazing cards, but i really couldn't help it. i love pop up cards and books... so cute!

hope you're having a fantastic day! a bit rainy today in portland, but that's to be expected, its december.
one announcement i have is that I will be heading to zapatas, Mexico on Dec. 23rd for one month! Nate and I will be helping a wonderful woman there with all of the many ministries that she is a part of including an orphanage, micro finance bread business for single women, and much more.
Excited! What's more is that we will be driving down, which means disneyland for christmas!
go mickey :)

winter wonderland

one of the many wonders of the pacific northwest, are the mountains. the fact that you can travel less than an hour and you are on one, means that you will find the most perfect christmas tree, and suddenly be in a winter wonderland.

we were able to find just the tree for us, and honestly the first real tree we've had yet in our married life.

can't wait to decorate :)

mexico, cha cha cha

My husband has been laid off. Yet with all praise to God, we haven’t gone to that “place” (at least yet). The place that tells you that your worth is your “net worth”, that you can’t really be a family until you have that house, or those kids, or that car... It’s taken a lot of time but I can honestly say that I am in a peaceful place. A place that is located smack dab in the middle of my Father’s hand. It has little to do with what the earth does, or what the people around it may cause. It is secure, safe, and held.

What are we going to do? Well, we’re going to Mexico for a few weeks. We’re trying to see this time as a time freed up. We were able to save (maybe not buy that extra dessert for a while) and we’re going to serve in an orphanage. We’re not going with an aim to restore people, God has the ultimate power there. We’re just going as a chance to serve alongside one another, maybe see something in my husband that I haven’t seen before. See where I can be stretched and grown, the fact that it might take place with a bunch of adorable children, well that is a bonus.

were thinking of going at the end december (soon!).. We are both looking forward to it.
