let your love shine in...

i love it when you take a picture and the sunlight seeps in just right.
the other day i was having fun taking pictures around the apartment. and at the risk of sounding vain, i really liked the way the sun was in this self portrait.
nature is an art form that i can never compare with.

ps- excuse the messy bedroom :)
happy saturday ya'll

sugarpush?

a week or so ago, i picked my mail up from the mailbox, like i always do, and in it i saw the bright red netflix envelope that always brings my heart joy when i see it.

upon opening it up, hoping for maybe a great chick flick or an inspiring documentary, instead i saw, "swing dancing with teresa mason."
what??
i asked nate and he said that he saw it and thought that we could try to learn sometime.

well, we tried... last night.
it was maybe the funniest early 90's video i have ever seen.
i don't know if it was the way the man with the polo shirt and khacki pants would sway his hips, or the woman in the unitard.....but it was hilarious.
not to mention that nate and i had no idea how to do it really after our first few attempts. as you can see in the picture, nate is thoroughly confused.

have you ever tried to learn something off of a video?

gray

its gray outside again, just a reminder that we are still in winter.
those 60 degree and sunny days are in the past.
BUT now there are daffodils, cherry blossoms, and new buds to keep as reminders that Spring is coming for good very, very soon.

i will try to remember that today as i embark on this too cool tuesday.
what's the weather doing where you live?

ps- please don't forget about this giveaway, no winner until wednesday.

oh yeah, and lost is on tonight :)

meet nish

she and i used to work together at the church, until she recently had a cute little boy after what may be known as the most difficult pregnancy i have ever witnessed. but he is here, and she is spending her time caring for the little fellow.

she is also the adventurous type, to the max. like she owns every type of equipment out there, and has probably climbed a mountain. and instead of giving things like that up because she is a mom, she is encouraging other moms to get out there with her and enjoy the great wild with their kids.

you can visit some of her thoughts on the subject as well as pointers here.
you won't be disappointed.

what now?

yesterday i feel a little down, well a lot down. i had an upsetting visit to the doctor.
i was diagnosed with a thing called PCOS, and although i don't really fit the average profile.
i have it. and it might make things a little difficult down the road.
and yesterday i was sad in bed for a long while, but today the sadness is wiping off, layer by layer.
it is true:
though the sorrow lasts through the night, joy comes in the morning.

i am surrounded by love, and i am grateful for that.

why does pepto have to ruin it, for us all?

i saw this beautiful picture, and maybe in a society that never invented pepto bismal, i would be all over a drink like this! blast you, pepto, for taking over the bright color of pink for wonderful strawberry drinks.
for shame... :)

does the color of food ever put you off?

little bits of spring

i don't know how it is where you live, but where i am in portland, its beginning to look like spring. little warm sunshine moments, flowers popping up, and sprouts raising their little arms.
it couldn't come any sooner for me, i'm ready, for new creation, for new life, for new starts.
here are some little shots i took yesterday as i was admiring all of it.

weird

first thing you need to know about nate and i, we are weird.
not in the conventional form of weird, just silly weird.

last night, we were bored...but not wanting to do much either, ever have those nights?
anyways, we decided to have a valentine's photo shoot in honor of the big day.
and i still fit in my wedding dress, almost 3 years later!

anyways hope you enjoy our quirkiness. and happy almost valentine's day!

thinking...

about adding this to my shop.
what do you think?
i value your opinion :)

waiting

what is it to wait?
we all have to do it at one time or another.
and instead of filling our time of waiting, with hope and praise and trust.
we fill it with uncertainty, fear, and entitlement.

i'm guilty, i'm feeling that right now. i am waiting for something, and its not coming.
and i've had times when i feel bullied, tortured, disturbed.

but what if we're growing because of our waiting?
what if there IS a reason for it.
and what if this world really isn't our true home in the first place?

anyways, my church is holding a forum on the subject in a couple of weeks.
i'm really looking forward.
if you're in PDX, come on down.
oh and i got to do a little artwork for them at the top :)

v-day kid style

last night was a fun one.
first it started off with a puppet show to celebrate 5 years of life with a close little buddy.
the show was complete with dragons, knights, and a fog machine. so you know, pretty much the bomb.com
then it got even sweeter, making valentines cards with this lady at Powell's
and i'm not talking the kind that i make and sell, i'm talking about the construction paper heart and soul valentine making...the glitter pen, glue stick, googly eye kind of valentines.

it was fun to do that in such a public setting, all the while talking about life and our 20's and how that means we have no idea what the heck we are doing. the hurts, the joys, all of it.
i guess we're in that stage. but maybe that stage lingers as you get into 30's, 40's, and beyond.
i don't really know. but its okay. we're okay.
these paper hearts aren't anything in comparison to the hearts of those around me, and the one above.

new eyes

i love it.
i love it when i am creating something in the bleary hours of the night.
and then i go to sleep.
and when i wake up, i get to see my creation with new eyes.
"not as critical" eyes.
like this piece i am doing for a friend's blog.
when i look at it a second time, i like it even more :)

does anyone else feel me on this?

Tuesday, February 9, 2010

yay!

i forgot to mention this. oops!
but i was on the front page of etsy on Saturday :)
Its always so fun to see something you've made on there. i think i jumped, and then i think i went to the window and looked up at the sky and said, "thanks God"

its the little things, right?

what makes you jump today?

mortality

i've thought about this subject more than i'd like to make known.
i fear, i ache, and i wonder.. what will be when i'm gone?
i know that because of God i have much to hope for.
but what about the things left undone?
well i'm not going to lie, it scares me.
but i read this today.
and i trust in Him, and i feel better.
just thoughts, that's all.
we're all on this beautiful journey together, aren't we?
happy monday :)

D&J

she's one of those friends that you have from middle school, that just sticks. she and her fiance are so cute, and i'm really excited for her. i think i squealed when she told me.

and bonus, i am doing the invitations and save the dates for the big day as well.
she's getting married in chicago and I am stoked to head back to the midwest for it.

I have been playing around with a few ides. above is a little sneaky peak of what may come!

and for your enjoyment here is a really bad picture of me with danielle from college

new year, new logo!

well it's been 2010 for awhile now, i realize that.
but i was in mexico for the first bit of it. so just now i am really thinking of ways to get my little buffalo a new look for the new year.

i first came up with the name "my little buffalo" a little over a year ago. here's the big reveal: its actually a pet name for my husband. to understand you need to know two things:

1.) i tend to just call things random names all the time, its just what i do.
2.) when you first get married, there are some things that boys just won't ever understand about girls.

so when my husband wouldn't understand why i needed to change my shirt 3 times, or why i needed an EXTRA bowl of ice cream i would reply, "you wouldn't understand, you are just a buffalo."

weird right? that's me.
and so i named my paper company after my husband, who supports me through thick and thin.
my. little. buffalo.

anyways, what do you think, like that new logo?
more to come
xo!

never, ever ever ever give up

i saw this the other day posted on a wall of a school in my neighborhood..
i guess some kids needed a little extra encouragement for the day.
it sure encouraged me :)
be encouraged as well today...

Father, Spirit, Son

on my walk to work today, I saw so many signs of spring.
green sprouts here and there.
and then i saw this little guy right before i walked in the door.
reminding of the three that have got my back.
x0

orange kitty

that's what we like to refer to him as...
i know that a lot of you out there probably aren't really cat people, or animal people. I can honestly say that I was right there with you, until i met this dude at the humane society.

this was taken last night during one of our regular cuddle sessions that we have throughout the day. really he is more like a dog in all of the regular ways- he plays fetch, likes his belly rubbed, and i swear i have seen him pant a few times.
anyways, he is the softest friend i have, and i like him.
i like you abe.

two more things:
those of you who are new to the blog and participated inthe freebie giveaway, i will send you an email shortly so you can get your surprise!
also thinking about adding this card to the shop soon so be on the lookout!

drip drop ocean

definitely, one of the best parts of living in the pacific northwest.
the ocean...
i love the way the water is filled with salt, the way the sand sucks your foot in and the way the air smells.
and fish. let's not forget the fish.
i love you, ocean.
tell me something about where you live...
and don't forget about the giveaway here and here

what are you waiting for?!

little biker friends

i don't know about your town..
but here in Portland, it is all about the bikes
big bikes, little bikes, orange bikes, bikes with heads on it.
all are excepted here, and even slightly mandatory to some degree.
even in the pouring rain, bikes prevail!

so in honor of that tradition I made this print.
check it out in the SHOP!

oh and that's what my bike looks like :)
