no sleep til brooklyn

sleep. i cherish it. in college i would be the one known to sleep through an entire morning, not waking until 11 or 12.

that's not the case now. i knew that sleep would be a challenge in being a new parent, but i didn't know it would be like THIS! don't get me wrong, i'm more than happy to do it, i know that she's young and needs the help, and i'm her mommy... so you know, there's that. but wow, Haddie, let's get try to get this sleep thing under control, for you and for me.

for the past several nights, little 3.5 month haddlette's sleep goes something like this:
-struggle putting her down and eventually get her down around 8:30 or 9pm
-dreamfeed at 10pm
-crying at 12:00 am
-crying again at 1:30 am
-crying again at 3:30 am
-oh and one more cry at 5:00 am
-wake up at 6:30 am (you know, because we all feel so rested everything, why not get a jump on the day)

what's the deal?
she might be teething, but would that keep her waking up so much?
she has a pacifier once she starts sounding off at 12, does that make her sleep less sound?

any ideas or tips? I'm all ears..

  2. Yikes!! I'm sorry. Maybe try giving her baby Tylenol or gripe water. They both work wonders.

  3. My little guy woke up every 45 minutes. Yep, that's right, every 45 minutes! The whole first year of his life is such a blur to me because I was so sleep deprived, I really wish I would have kept a journal! They do sleep through the night ... eventually :) Best wishes until then!

  4. Around 3 months I started sleep training (Ferber) b/c I was SO tired all.the.time. It was horrible and I hated every second of it, but within 3 days she was sleeping through the night. She would occasionally wake to breastfeed, but those nights were few and far between.

  5. No advice except to tell you I'm RIGHT there with you (I have a 3.5 month old as well). We're VERY tired and have our two year old (who I want to say did this around the same age, too?!) to keep up with during the day. *yawn*. We did eventually sleep train (Ferber) around 7 months after doing everything else we could think of with little success for 3 months. Good luck! They DO sleep eventually, I promise. Plus, someday they'll be teenagers and we won't be able to get them OUT of bed - won't that be nice :)

  6. I HIGHLY recommend the book Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. It's a good sleep learning book, with various techniques and tips that help you learn the way YOUR child sleeps. It's not a step by step, as all babies and families are different and have different sleep needs, but it has a lot of great information!
